In 2023, I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Journalism, followed by an MA in Magazine Journalism from the same university. During my time in higher education, I learned what makes a story stick, how to write with purpose and personality, and—most importantly—how to truly connect with an audience.
Beyond the classroom, I sharpened my people skills by interviewing individuals from all walks of life and giving a platform to voices that might otherwise go unheard. I also discovered a love for layout and design, which led me to pursue my master’s and deepen my knowledge of magazine production, from concept to final spread.
Since graduating, I’ve been working as a freelance writer for Today Digital, where I create B2B content that balances clarity, insight, and a conversational tone. I regularly tackle topics in tech, workplace culture, and marketing—making them accessible and engaging without dumbing things down. It’s helped me grow as a writer and build confidence working with a range of clients, briefs, and house styles.
On the multimedia side, I’m a confident video and audio editor, having created content for social media, news stories, and podcasts. In 2024, I co-hosted, produced, and edited two podcast series—The Final Girls and I’ll Watch What She’s Watching—which gave me hands-on experience with scripting, sound design, and storytelling in a new format.
In terms of newsroom experience, I’ve taken part in multiple Newsweeks at NTU, where I worked in fast-paced, real-time editorial teams to produce print-ready content under tight deadlines. I also completed placements at Driffield & Wolds Weekly and Red Stag Media, where I contributed to both digital and print projects.
